虹の橋・・・

天国のほんのちょと手前に、虹の橋と呼ばれるところがあります。

特別に愛する誰かといっしょに生きてきた動物たちは、一生を終えるとこの虹の橋にやって来ます。

そこには草原や丘が広がり、可愛いあの子たちはみんなで駆け回って遊ぶことができるのです。

食べ物も水もたっぷりとあり、太陽の光は満ちあふれ、あの子たちはあたたかく、そして幸せです。

病気だった子、年老いた子、傷ついた子、体の不自由だった子…

みんな元気を取り戻し、元通り、丈夫な体になります。

過ぎ去っていったあの日の夢の中のように。

みんな幸せで、満たされています。

たった１つのことを除いては。

あとに残してきてしまった、愛するあの人に会えないことが淋しいのです。

あの子たちは、みんなでいっしょに駆け回って遊んでいます。

しかし、”その時”が来ると、その中の１匹は立ち止まり、遠くをじっと見つめます。

キラキラと輝く瞳は、一心に何かを見つめ、体は嬉しさのあまり、小さく震え始めます。

そして、仲間から急に離れると、緑の中を飛ぶように走り出します。

そう。大好きなあなたの姿を見つけたのです。

やがて、ふたりは再び触れ合います。

やっと出会えたふたりは、抱き合い、そしてもう、二度と離れることはありません。

あの子はあなたの顔にキスを浴びせ、あなたは、可愛いあの子を優しく撫でます。

それからあなたは、あの子の瞳をのぞきこみます。

長いこと会えなかったけれど、１度だって忘れたことはない、信頼に満ちたその瞳を。

そして、ふたりは仲良く　虹の橋を渡っていくのです。

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here，

that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends

so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food， water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;

those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again，

just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content， except for one small thing:

they each miss someone very special， someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together，

but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.

Suddenly， he breaks from the group， flying over the green grass， faster and faster.

You have been spotted， and when you and your special friend finally meet，

you cling together in joyous reunion， never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head，

and you look once more into those trusting eyes，

so long gone from your life， but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...
